Your Life Is Someone's Lesson
"Pay careful attention to yourselves..." — Acts 20:28
Every week we hear God's Word together, but the real test of a sermon isn't how much we remember on Sunday afternoon—it's how much we live out on Tuesday morning.
This week's message reminded us that every believer is running a race. The Apostle Paul knew his time of ministry was coming to an end, so instead of talking about his accomplishments, he talked about the kind of life he had lived. His words challenge us to ask the same question:
What kind of lesson is my life teaching others?
1. Your Life Is Everyone's Lesson
Whether you realize it or not, someone is watching your life.
Your children are watching how you respond when life doesn't go your way. Your coworkers are watching how you handle stress. Your friends are watching how you treat people who can't do anything for you. Even strangers see glimpses of Jesus through the way you live.
Paul didn't just preach the gospel—he lived it. His life backed up his words.
This week, ask yourself:
You don't have to be perfect. You simply have to be faithful.
2. Run with Humility
"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." — James 4:6
Humility isn't thinking less of yourself. It's thinking of yourself less.
Pride says, "Look what I've done."
Humility says, "Look what God has done."
One of the greatest dangers in the Christian life is becoming more concerned with our reputation than God's glory. Humble people are teachable. They apologize when they're wrong. They serve without needing recognition. They celebrate others instead of competing with them.
This week, look for one opportunity to serve someone quietly—without expecting thanks or recognition.
3. Run with Endurance
"Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith..." — Hebrews 12:2
Following Jesus isn't a sprint. It's a lifelong race.
Some days you'll feel energized. Other days you'll feel exhausted. There will be victories, disappointments, answered prayers, and seasons where God seems quiet.
Paul kept going because his eyes stayed fixed on Jesus—not on circumstances.
When you're tempted to quit this week, remember:
Your race isn't over because today was difficult.
4. Run with Abandonment
Paul finished well because he was fully surrendered to Christ.
In contrast, Scripture tells us that Demas abandoned the faith because he loved the things of this world more than the things of God.
Every day we make small decisions about what we value most.
Will we chase comfort, convenience, and approval? Or will we surrender everything to the One who gave everything for us?
A surrendered life isn't about losing freedom—it's about finding the life God created you to live.
Midweek Challenge
As you go through the rest of this week, remember these four truths:
You may never know whose faith is strengthened because of your obedience today. A kind word, a faithful decision, or a quiet act of service could become part of someone else's story of how God drew them closer.
But so that, like Paul, you can one day say you finished faithfully.
We’re so glad you joined us for our Sunday service. Whether it was your first time or you’ve been part of our church family for years, we believe it’s no accident that you’re here today.
Our prayer is that you experienced God’s presence in a real and meaningful way. No matter what your week has looked like, be encouraged: God sees you, He knows you, and He deeply loves you. He is at work in your life—even in the moments you may not fully understand.
As you go into this week, hold onto this truth:
You don’t walk alone. God goes before you, walks beside you, and strengthens you for whatever lies ahead.
Thank you again for being with us today. We’d love to stay connected with you and walk alongside you in your faith journey.
Grace and peace,
Covenant Christian Church
